1. Enabling Camera & Microphone Permissions
Modern browsers require you to explicitly allow access before any website can read your webcam or audio feed. If you clicked "Block" by accident, here is how to reset permissions:
Look at the address bar next to omerot.com. Click the "Tune" or padlock icon. Ensure Camera and Microphone are set to Allow. Then refresh the page.
Open device Settings → Scroll to Safari → Under "Settings for Websites", tap Camera and Microphone → Set to Ask or Allow. In Safari, tap the aA icon in the URL bar and select "Website Settings".
Click the permissions icon immediately to the left of the URL bar. Click the "X" next to "Blocked Temporarily" under Camera or Microphone, then reload the page and choose "Allow".
2. Troubleshooting Connection Drops & WebRTC
If a chat gets stuck on "Connecting to partner..." or drops unexpectedly, check the following common causes:
- VPN or Proxy Interference: Certain VPN configurations block UDP ports required for WebRTC peer-to-peer data transport. Temporarily pause your VPN or switch to a different server region.
- Restricted Wi-Fi (School / Office Networks): Educational institutions and corporate firewalls frequently block WebRTC STUN/TURN traversal ports. Try connecting via standard mobile data.
- Browser Extensions & Adblockers: Aggressive privacy extensions can occasionally block WebSockets or signaling scripts. Whitelist

3. How to Use Interest Tags Effectively

• Keep tags concise: Use single words or short phrases like gaming, anime, music, french.
• Separate with commas: You can add up to 5 interests at once.
• Automatic fallback: If no one with your specific interest is online in the queue within a few seconds, OmeRot seamlessly connects you to a random user so you never wait indefinitely.
